A pseudopatron account is a Symphony user account that is not a real person, but is used to for special Symphony functions. Pseudopatron accounts provide some functions where items need to be processed or shadowed, such as DISCARD, BINDERY, or ILL.
Here are the steps to create a new pseudopatron account.
- Make new Location (if not using an existing Location). This will be the Current Location when the item is checked out to the new pseudopatron. Decide whether it should be shadowed and/or holdable.*
- Make new User Profile and User Access. It might be able to use the User Access of another policy, like ILL, or it can be a totally new one. If making both the User Access and User Profile, make the User Access first, because it gets used in the User Profile. One of the attributes of the User Profile is Location. You'll make the Location be the one you just created in the previous step.*
- Make new circ map line that ties the new user profile and the item type (maybe ALL for Item Type) to the circulation rule. You might be able to re-use an existing rule.*
- Make new user record using the new User Profile. It typically should not expire and should allow unlimited checkouts.
* Each of these steps requires a halt/run.
