Constructing a SUSHI Request URL for COUNTER data

Introduction

You can access COUNTER data using a SUSHI Request URL. This allows you to view COUNTER data in your internet browser, or import it into other systems or tools such as Excel or Power BI. The following are URLs for vendors LOUIS works with. Each URL will need to include your institution's credentials; depending on the vendor, credentials could include customer ID, requestor ID, and/or API key. Your credentials can usually be found by logging into the vendor's admin portal and looking for SUSHI credentials, or open a ticket and and LOUIS can provide them for the vendors below.

URL construction 

Each URL requires that you include several pieces of information:

• The Base or Server URL (ex., https://sitemaster.read.dukeupress.edu/sushi/reports/)
• Type of report (ex., tr for Title Report)
• Credentials (ex., customer_id=1234, requestor_id=1234, api_key=1234)
• Date range (ex., begin_date=2023-01-01, end_date=2023-12-31)

The examples below are URLs commonly used by LOUIS for reporting, but they may be modified. The COUNTER Registry has information about what each vendor provides.

Example URLs

Replace "XXXX" with your values, such as your customer ID, and YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD with your required dates. Note that some vendors do not allow you to request more than 12 months of data at a time, so you may need to construct multiple URLs to get multiple years of data.
